40RD299, TN Faunal Data (2015)
Ancient Native American use of caves in the Eastern Woodlands occurred throughout the entire span of regional prehistory; however, the ways that these natural features were used varied considerably over time. To date only 25 cave sites containing deposits dated to the Archaic period (ca. 10,000–3000 B.P.) are recorded in the state of Tennessee, representing just 0.4% of the total known Archaic sites. In 2014 the authors conducted a salvage operation, bucket auger survey, and limited testing at...

Albert Porter Pueblo Fauna (2018)
Faunal data from Albert Porter Pueblo, excavated by Crow Canyon Archaeological Center 2001-2004. Faunal analysis was by Shaw Badenhorst and Jonathan C. Driver in 2008, using methodology described in the CCAC Manual for the Description of Vertebrate Remains. Context information was integrated by Karen G. Schollmeyer in 2011 using data supplied by CCAC. Kyle Bocinsky refactored the bone modification data in 2018. Site dates are AD 1020-1280, fauna is from the period AD 1060-1280. Users should...

Arroyo Hondo Fauna (2019)
This dataset represents a portion of the faunal collection that was excavated at Arroyo Hondo Pueblo by the School of American Research (SAR) between 1971 and 1974. The entire assemblage was analyzed at that time by Richard Lang and Arthur Harris. Original data sheets, which derive from this analysis, are curated at the SAR. As part of a NSF-funded project, a portion of these data sheets, which included approximately 3500 specimens, was entered into a digital database. A summary of the...

Blue Creek Site, TN (40CH171), Faunal Dataset (2010)
Fauna from 40CH171. Funded by a grant from NSF (Award # 1048351). Bulk samples recovered by Tanya M. Peres and Aaron Deter-Wolf in 2010. Samples were screened through nested sieves, and 1/4" and 1/8" samples were sorted and analyzed.
Boon Horizon Eleven Dataset (2010)
Samples used in this dataset include both macro-remains (trowel recovery) and micro-remains (flotation recovery) from Units 250, 208, and 165 within Horizon 11 of the Koster Site. These data are included in the combined Horizon Eleven Macro and Micro files also preserved in tDAR. Sampling for Unit 208 and a portion of 165 was conducted using 6 by 6 foot block excavations divided into four quadrants while Unit 250 and a portion of 165 was excavated in sixteen 45.7 cm (18 in) squares. Debris...

Bryant Ranch Fauna (2018)
This dataset is the full Bryant Ranch Faunal dataset created by Rebecca Dean with the addition of an 'all gnaw' column. The original dataset contained separate columns for rodent gnawing and carnivore gnawing. Mapping gnawing information from Bryant Ranch to the tDAR Faunal Gnawing Ontology required a new variable that combined presence/absence information from both columns.

Campbell Hollow, IL (11ST144) Fauna dataset 1/16" flotation (1980)
The Campbell Hollow site (11ST144) is located in the lower Illinois River valley in Scott Country, Illinois. Late Woodland remains were primarily encountered in the plow zone, and two buried Archaic components were excavated in 1980 and 1981. Early and Middle Archaic remains were buried by over 2 m of sediment at the toe of colluvial slope on the east side of the Illinois River valley near the entrance of a small stream (Campbell Hollow Creek) into the main valley. The Archaic encampments are...
